BUONGIORNO!!!!
So this morning before I say anything else, we got our transfer calls!!!! Scary!!!! So my trainer should technically be going home today but she got an extension to work in the temple open house so she is headed up to Rome, and my sister training leader Sorella Sullivan is becoming my new companion. Which is super exciting because she is an incredible missionary. I'm excited because I have a lot to learn from her. She is an incredibly hard worker, and I'm struggling a bit with motivation because everyone around me is dying (finishing their missions and going home).
Few things that did happen this week --
1. We did a greenie scambio (exchanges) so Sorella Rowberry came to Pozzuoli and we booped around the city. She is also incredible (she learned a lot of Italian before this mission and you can tell) and we taught a lesson with M. (who is doing so well -- she asked us what time her baptism will be so she can ask for the time off work) and English group and then went finding, mostly temple open house finding which is fun and less awkward because we don't have to have like we don't know what to do conversations. They generally all go the same way. BUT this was actually super helpful because I realized wow, yes, I can speak Italian -- wow, yes, I do have conversational skills. It's incredible. It's like this. When Mom is home I can't make my own doctor's appointments. When I go to college I am fine. Also, when my "mission mom" (Sorella B.) is around I can't speak Italian. When she is gone I am fine. I have to learn to stand on my own feet.
2. We started on Wednesday eating a pizza everyday before Sorella Brandt leaves. I mean, hey, you gotta take full advantage of Napoli while you are here. It's been delicious. Saturday I really think I had the best pizza I've ever had so that was incredible. Also Sunday (obviously we can't get a pizza) so we were planning on buying also a dessert pizza Saturday and eating it for breakfast but they didn't have any at the place we went so Sunday we just made our own little dessert pizzas with nutella and tortillas and bananas :)
3. E. update. She did not get baptized. We were pretty stressed about getting everything ready and we met with her I think on Monday and she was like, I don't feel ready but I know I want the gift of the Holy Ghost, like I need the help of the Holy Ghost with me always!!!!! So she said, ok, can I let you know on Friday... I need to make sure I do all the things I need to do first. And we met with her on Thursday and she doesn't feel ready. We have some ideas of some things that will help her so we have a lot of hope that it will help her make the changes in her life needed!!
Some other things happened but like not that important. There is a lot of work to do here in Pozzuoli and I am
grateful for that and excited to see what happens this transfer!
Questions...
1. How was church today?
Church was good. My ward is somehow a week behind in Come Follow Me! It was Sorella B's last week so I helped her write notes to everyone and salute people.
2. What was the funnest thing that happened this week? What was the funniest thing?
Eating a pizza everyday this week. It's incredible.
Funniest thing(s) - caused by us obviously not being Italian and being in Napoli. Yesterday we were headed back from Napoli because we did a mostra for the temple, and we were on the train and like no one else was and we were in a car by ourselves because no one was on the train and then this group of ragazaci (mischievous youth) came to our car and one of course sat down next to us, like way too close and started hitting on us and we had Jesus DVDs in our hands and Sorella B. told them we were nuns and they still kept going way too close to my face and so I said, "I don't speak Italian," first in English (you've gotta sell it). then in Italian. Gratefully they got off at the next stop :)
Also just now today ( just all the creepy men stories for right now) a man like ran up to us -- he was so excited and asked us if we were English from the "USA" and laughing hysterically (super nice guy) ... tried to bach (that's not an actual word -- but kisses is bacio so when they do a kiss on each cheek it's a bach - like botch) us like 4 times and were like, no non posso, and so he started kissing on our hands (un bacio for the hand) and then just plants one on Sorella B's. Just funny things.
3. What was your happiest moment this week? Tell me about a time you felt joy this week.
I think every time we meet with M I feel so much joy.
4. What stood out to you in your studies this week?
I have been reading in Mosiah, King Benjamin's address, and just the fact that we are literally nothing. In one verse it talks about how we aren't even as dust without God and we will never be worthy. The phrase unprofitable servants really stuck put to me, because that's a hard thing to think of as a missionary that I won't be a profitable servant. But it's so true because for every I put forth God doubles or triples it. We are forever indebted to him, and I definitely got my boxes broken and humbled this week with the struggles we have had in the work and then that scripture study.
So this week I will be studying how to be humble but also having hope and confidence.
5. What are you doing for P-day?
We came into Napoli to do some more shopping (literally saldi is INSANE and we LOVE it - I got a scarf and a jacket and a dress), got a pizza with the Zone leaders because they picked up sach (like ragazzaci) jackets for us, which are these dope jackets all the ragazzaci wear that are super spendy but they found them at a super sketch market so we got them. See picture -- it is lit. Now headed back to grocery shop, probably work on (books that you have to make for your companion) and maybe nap.
6. Did you eat anything new or unusual this week?
A pizza everyday. And for Sunday we homemade a pizza with tortillas, nutella and banana. It was nothing like a real pizza. Also we had a dinner appointment with the W family in our ward and they made INCREDIBLE fried jalapeno tilapia and angel hair pasta and it was incredible.
7. Have you gotten any more information about the temple open house?
I think so but I honestly haven't read the email yet. I think my dates to be there start on the 3rd but I am not sure.
8. Do you know how much I love you?
Always
9. What have you learned about yourself this week?
I am nothing on my own.
10. Tell me about a tender mercy that you experienced this week, or a time that you felt the hand of the Lord in your life.
On greenie scambios me and Sorella R were talking and one thing she suggested for me to do this week is ask for specific things in my studies. I have no idea what I asked for if I'm being honest but I was reading in Mosiah 3 when King Benjamin is testifying of Christ and talking about the atonement and in that moment I could feel my Savior's love for me so strong I started crying a little bit (which is not a thing that I do so it's actually significant) and it just verified to me that if we ask God for something really from our heart he will give it to us. He is waiting to bless us.
Love you all!!!
Not many pictures this week because Google Photos isn't working.
Wow -- pants -- so much movement!
Me and a cat. There are so many cats here.
We did a mostra for the temple in Napoli and one of our Anziani said that he looked too much like a Jehovah's Witness with a full suit so he took my jacket (black and tight, looked very Italian) and I took his (like kinda hip though)
Sach jackets with us and the Zone leaders -- aw, so cute matching
